With Grandparents Day just around the corner, in honor of my own abuelos, today’s blog post is especially close to my heart.
It’s a perfect opportunity to celebrate the special bond between grandparents (los abuelos) and grandchildren (los nietos) while also practicing and learning Spanish together.
I fondly remember “cuando era niña“, for Grandparents Day, mi abuelo or Grandaddy — as I lovingly called him— would come to school and have lunch with me. My heart was beaming with joy, it was truly the highlight of my day and those memories have stayed with me ever since.
Inspired by that joy, I’ve created a FREE printable to help you celebrate Grandparents Day (El Día de los Abuelos).
This special coloring book features pictures of los abuelos and includes various names for grandparents across the Spanish-speaking world. I’ve also shared some of my favorite activities I enjoyed with my grandparents, along with heartfelt, kid-friendly messages in Spanish for children to share with their own abuelos.
I hope this coloring book not only helps children build their Spanish vocabulary but also brings families and communities closer as they celebrate this special day.
